Jackson County VINE Coverage

Tennessee uses VINE as a free custody-notification service, with VINELink as the public web interface. The Tennessee Department of Correction says its component covers people in TDOC custody and reports custody-status changes and criminal-case information. Many county jails also participate. Jackson County coverage should still be checked in the live Tennessee interface for the specific record because no official source promises that every local booking or old release remains searchable.

The contributing agency matters. A Jackson County Jail entry concerns that jail's custody report. A TDOC entry concerns a felony offender in state custody or supervision. Neither one covers a federal Bureau of Prisons event or an immigration detention event. VINELink can help answer whether a named source recently reported a change, but it may not explain whether a departure was community release or a transfer to another custodian.

This source supports the state-prison channel. It does not turn VINELink into a Jackson County historical release archive.

Search Jackson County VINELink Records

Begin with enough identity detail to avoid selecting a different person with the same name. VINELink accepts the fields made available by the chosen Tennessee source, commonly a name or offender identifier. An identifier is useful when it is known, but the agency label and personal details still need review. A blank search is not proof that someone left custody. Spelling, aliases, delayed transmission, source participation, and retention can all affect what appears.

1. Open VINELink and select Tennessee before entering a name.
2. Choose the custody search and enter the full name or available offender or TOMIS identifier.
3. Compare all likely matches by identity and source agency. Do not rely on the name alone.
4. Open the matching record and read the exact custody status and event text shown.
5. If nothing appears, retry a known alias or identifier, then contact the sheriff or TDOC for the source record.

The screen is the starting point for a person-specific check, not a countywide list of everyone released during a set period.

Note: Record the source agency and access date so a later sheriff, court, or TDOC inquiry can address the same custody event.

Read Jackson County Release Results

A participating source controls which details reach VINELink. One result may show a current status and recent event, while another may offer less. A released person might remain with a noncustodial label, display a recent release event, or disappear after the source's retention period. Tennessee materials do not set one universal historical window. Read only the labels present and keep the source agency attached to every conclusion.

Released and transferred are not synonyms. If Jackson County reports that its custody ended because TDOC, another jail, ICE, or a federal agency accepted the person, custody continued elsewhere. Ask the sheriff for the movement record and receiving agency. When the exact release type matters, the durable evidence is the original agency record, not a missing VINELink profile.

Timing also needs care. A court can authorize bond before Jackson County Jail completes physical discharge. TDOC can report a parole-related milestone before a release plan and other conditions are finished. VINELink receives information from contributing systems, so an alert may follow the source entry rather than the moment another office signed its paperwork. Compare the alert with the sheriff movement, court order, or TDOC record that controls the event.

Registration starts from the correct person's record. Available channels may include telephone, text, email, TTY, or an application alert, depending on the current interface and source. Tennessee's documented phone model for VINE Courts uses a four-digit PIN. The PIN confirms receipt when the automated call arrives. If no one answers, the system can leave a message and retry for at least 24 hours or until the PIN is entered. An operator can reset a forgotten PIN, and more than one phone number or email may be registered. The live custody interface should control if its current steps differ.

A separate VINE Courts notice about a case event, hearing date, time, or location.

Transfer

A move to another custodian, which is not release to the community.

Discharge

The end of the correctional custody or supervision relationship shown by the responsible record.

Jackson County Pretrial Release Notice

Tennessee adds a county-level notification route for qualifying victims. As summarized in Tenn. Code Ann. § 40-38-103(b), a person who qualifies and requests notice can receive information and a form through the investigating or arresting agency, the sheriff or custodian, or a victim-witness coordinator. This statutory process supplements VINELink. It is not an open recent-release list, and it does not provide a general archive for the public.

The local route starts with the agency or coordinator connected to the case. VINELink registration and the statutory request can serve different notification needs.

For VINE help, the operator line is (888) 868-4631. The VINE Courts TTY line is (866) 847-1298, and TDOC Victim Services lists victim.notification@tn.gov. These channels assist with notice and registration. They do not certify an old booking or produce the sheriff's written release record.

VINE Courts and custody VINE can report related events without reporting the same event. A hearing notice describes a court date, time, or place. A custody alert describes a status change sent by a jail or prison source. The court may supply the authority for release, while the jail supplies the completed departure. Keep both notices when they help, then request the source records if the sequence or legal release type must be established.

Separate Jackson County Custody Systems

Use the locator that belongs to the custodian. Jackson County Jail release information begins with the sheriff. A state felony custody or supervision record belongs in TDOC's Felony Offender Information Lookup, called FOIL. Federal sentenced custody belongs in the Bureau of Prisons locator. Immigration detention belongs in the ICE locator. A U.S. Marshals pretrial matter often requires the federal court docket because the Marshals Service has no general public release-name search.

Narrow registries do not fill the gap. The Tennessee sex-offender and drug-offender registries cover only people subject to their specific statutes. Presence in one does not establish the date or manner of release, and absence says nothing about a person who falls outside that registry. Use the responsible custody system instead of treating a registry as a general list of Jackson County releases.

Confirm Jackson County Release Records

Call the Jackson County Sheriff's Department at (931) 268-6226 for immediate orientation. Ask whether the person is presently held and what event ended the county's custody. If staff reports a transfer, ask for the receiving agency. A written booking, release, or movement record can establish the actual event and time more clearly than a live alert.

The Jackson County Circuit Court Clerk can supply the public legal record behind a bond, dismissal, sentence, probation order, or other disposition. That record explains authority, but it may not show when jail staff completed physical processing. FOIL should be checked only if TDOC custody or felony supervision is involved. Each source answers a different question.

No result should be treated as automatic proof of release. A name mismatch, delayed update, sealed or confidential record, nonparticipating source, transfer, or expired retention window can produce a blank screen. Confirm the event with the office that created it, especially when the event text does not distinguish a community discharge from continued custody.

Save the alert time and wording, since those details help the responsible office identify the reported event.
