Where Jackson County Releases Go
A completed bond, recognizance order, direct court order, time-served calculation, or end of a county sentence may return a person to the community. A detainer can cause Jackson County to release its own hold while another agency immediately accepts the person. Ask for the destination and receiving agency when those details are public. “Released” without an event code or destination is too vague to establish that the person went home.

Reconcile the legal order with the sheriff's movement. A dismissal can remove one basis for custody while another hold remains. A sentence order does not itself account for every later jail calculation, detainer, or processing step.
Track Jackson County TDOC Transfers
Use TDOC's FOIL search only when a Tennessee felony custody or supervision relationship exists. FOIL includes current and former TDOC offenders. It can be searched by name, with identity controls, or by a TDOC/TOMIS number or Tennessee SID. A person held only on a short county matter may never appear.
TDOC says a record may show a photograph, status such as incarcerated, probation, parole, or inactive, location, offense, sentence information, parole-hearing status, and release information. “Inactive” does not state what ended the Jackson County stay or rule out another jurisdiction.
