Information You Choose to Send
Terms Entered in Search
A name, location, or other term entered in a search tool is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Jackson County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's handling of a submitted query is governed by that provider's policy.
Emails and Other Messages
Information supplied in an email or contact-form message is retained as needed to read and answer the request. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. Messages should not contain sensitive custody, medical, financial, or identity data that is not needed for the question.
Technical Details Collected Automatically
Ordinary web-server, analytics, and advertising functions may collect limited technical details when a page loads. These details help measure traffic and keep the service working.
- The visitor's Internet Protocol address
- The browser name and version
- The device class and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- The date and time of each request
Cookie Controls
Cookies may be used to understand how people move through the site and to support analytics or advertising functions. A browser can reject or remove cookies. Blocking them may change how some features work.
Reasons Information Is Used
Collected information is used only to support site operations, understand use, deliver requested functions, and maintain the service.
- Operate the site and maintain reasonable page speed
- Send a search request to the selected partner service
- Measure which Jackson County resources visitors find useful
- Detect errors, abuse, and other technical problems
- Present advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Privacy Beyond This Website
Links may lead to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Jackson County Jail information, the Tennessee Department of Correction FOIL service, the Tennessee Board of Parole, federal or immigration locators, court resources, and third-party search tools. Sheriff Marty Hinson, Jackson County Jail, TDOC, and those other offices operate independently. Their own privacy notices govern after a visitor follows a link.
Tennessee public-record access is addressed through the Tennessee Public Records Act guidance. That government records framework does not replace the privacy policy of an outside portal. Advertising partners may also track activity across websites for interest-based advertising, using their systems rather than systems controlled here.
Parties That May Receive Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to service providers that perform a necessary site function or to authorities acting under valid legal process.
- Search partners that process a submitted query
- Analytics providers that measure site use
- Advertising networks that serve or measure ads
- Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Reasonable Security, Not a Guarantee
Standard safeguards are used to protect information within the site's control. No internet connection, server, storage method, or transmission can be promised as fully secure. The site cannot guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal information may use the Contacts page to request deletion.
Choices About Personal Data
Depending on the data held and the law that applies, a visitor may make the following requests through the available contact method.
- Ask for a copy of personal data held by the site
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate
- Request deletion when the request can lawfully be honored
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where available
